I’m using several rechargeable batteries for my projects, my kids toys, my electronic cigarettes, etc.
In most cases charging time and charging quality is an issue so I was searching for a good and versatile solution that can handle multiple type and quantities of batteries.
I had bought several chargers but not particularly happy with any of them. So, I decided to get rid of all of them and create my battery charger!
I had to find a reliable solution that could act as the main charging station and capable of handling different types of batteries. I went for an iMax B6 charger that has a wide range of connectivity options.
Out of these I decided to use the standard banana plugs and create different combinations for different battery types by merging several 3D printing battery cases together. The case were download and 3D printed by thingiverse.
Then I cut and painted a square piece of wood when all the battery holders could be securely placed. I created three lines one for AA, one for AAA and one for 18650 batteries. Furthermore I created a secured location for the charger unit.
Now I just have to place the batteries on the holders, plug the appropriate line to the charger unit, select charging program and go!
The final result is shown in the following gallery.
